Years ago, water flooded the Golden Gallery twice in one week. So...we changed locations.
Now, a new kind of flood has happened, a flood of new work. Visitors to the gallery this summer have been presented with a tremendous amount of works to see from watercolorist Mary Ellen Golden and her son, photographer and illustrator John W. Golden.
Two big changes for John have led to his increased artistic output: One, he switched from traditonal to digital photography, and two, he moved his office into the complex where the gallery has been located for 29 years.
"It's great, because now I am close by to sign photo mattes and I can just pop over with a new photo or illustration as I create them," says John. "Before, It might be a month or so between visits to the gallery for me, so new work sat on my harddrive for sometime before I could get it out to the public."
The Golden Gallery is located at 307 North Front Street, in the Cotton Exchange, in Historic Downtown WIlmington. |
